ABOUT
Artist & Sculptor
Eric Hultquist is an artist who works at the intersection of sculpture, design, and architecture. His work explores balance, movement, and spatial tension, exhibiting stylistic presence through handcrafted metal sculptures. Utilizing intense saturated colors, he integrates illumination into functional art pieces as essential sculptural elements. Each work functions simultaneously as lighting and as an autonomous artwork which transforms industrial materials into refined sculptural forms designed to inspire conversation and promote social interaction
By continually experimenting with new materials that best convey the aspects of a particular design, he creates a continually evolving collection of functional art sculptures which are focused into various collections of motifs and styles.
Based in Arizona, Hultquist creates one-of-a-kind functional sculptures for private collectors, interior designers and architectural environments.
My Art
When working out a design for a piece of art furniture or one of my original handcrafted fine art lamps, I insist that each of the various elements which make up the piece, reflect one another in character and style. This is called "artistic integrity" and it is a hallmark of my designs. You can't create a cool shade for a lamp and stick it on any old base without thinking about whether they complement one another. Conversely, you can't create an unusual base and top it with a conventional shade.
